Ideas Powered for Business Fund reopens!

The Ideas Powered for Business Fund, managed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe, is open for applications again. In 2025, the call for applications will start on 3 February and will run until 5 December 2025 or until funds are exhausted. 

The program aims to help SMEs develop and protect their intellectual assets - trademarks, designs, patents, etc.

What is offered - types of vouchers and their purpose

The fund provides several types of vouchers that companies can use to reimburse a portion of their intellectual property (IP)-related costs. 

IP Scan / IP Scan Enforcement

• Designed for preliminary IP diagnostics: assessment of the business model, products/services and growth plans with regard to intellectual property.
• 90% reimbursement for IP Scan or IP Scan Enforcement services

Brands and designs

• Intended to cover part of the fees for registration of trademarks and/or designs at the national, regional, European or international level.
  
• Approximate refund of 75% in fees for applications within the EU; for international marks/designs - up to 50%.

Search for national and previous patents

• For preliminary research preceding a patent application.
  
• Refund of upfront patent costs of 75 % (filing, search and examination), grant fees and publication fees for national protection.

European patents and legal costs

• Refund of filing and search fees for European patents in the amount of 75% filed with the EPO.
• Reimbursement of 50% from legal expenses related to the preparation and filing of a European patent application.

Community Plant Variety Office

• Intended for fees for filing and examining an application for a pan-European plant variety right.
• Refund of the EU-wide online application and verification fee of 75%.

Why is it important to act now?

Funds under this program are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In past campaigns, some of the voucher categories have sold out early.
